DESCRIPTION OF WORKSHOP: The presenter will sow some seeds on choosing and using relevant authentic                     text in various formats (written, audio, video) for use in combined lessons for mixed upper-level L2 classes.                           The lessons are both cooperative and competitive between the levels.

TITLE OF WORKSHOP: Using Hispanic TV Programming To Create Unique Lessons

TARGET AUDIENCE: High School 2 nd semester level I through University, Spanish only

DESCRIPTION OF WORKSHOP: The presenter, who teaches in a rural school district, will share the                             possibilities that exist in designing instructional sequences using Hispanic TV programming directly into                               the classroom via cost-effective satellite. The building and extension of at least ten lessons will be shared.                              As well, the logistics involved in such production will be discussed. Participants will brainstorm uses of this                          real-world communication tool.

TITLE OF WORKSHOP: Look at All This Stuff!: An Accumulation of Many Years of Pretty Cool Unique                           Activities and Techniques for A Communicative Classroom

Many of the ideas are original, that is of course unless they are not!

DESCRIPTION OF WORKSHOP: Various group-processing techniques will be modeled. Audience                            will actively participate. The objective is to use these techniques to allow, even demand, that all                  participate in the L2 at the given level of language ability

TITLE OF WORKSHOP: Building and Keeping a Quality Foreign Language Program ME: Frank Mulhern

TARGET AUDIENCE: Foreign Language Departments and Chairs, K-12; School and District Administrators

DESCRIPTION OF WORKSHOP: What does a quality Foreign Language Program look like? How is one                     developed? How is one enhanced? Once the program is in place, is it supported? Using best practices                           guidelines from       several sources, the presenter will familiarize attendees of the elements of curriculum,                assessment and advocacy which meet this challenge. Practical strategies to meet the needs of institutional                 situations will be offered and discussed.

DESCRIPTION OF WORKSHOP:

Get your students out of their seats and on their feet! Keep them using that target language! Participants                               will receive a booklet of Performance Tasks that the presenters use with their students in all levels. A variety                           of examples and topics will be shared including an explanation of how these tasks can keep your students                      actively engaged in the target language.

DESCRIPTION OF WORKSHOP: This workshop will present a number of techniques for using story book "pop                     up" illustrations to spice up writing activities in the World Language classroom. In this make & take workshop,              participants will create samples of pop ups and share ideas to take back to their classrooms.
