NOTES ON WORLD LANGUAGE RECOGNITION PROGRAM

Many of you have participated in our world language recognition program for many years.

We hope that you will continue to do so. A few recent changes:

1. It is now possible for schools at any level to order recognition certificates,

provided the students meet the criteria listed. (It is up to you, the teacher, to

determine eligibility.) The certificate will read accordingly:

The Pennsylvania State Modern Language Association is pleased to

recognize distinction in the study of world languages in Pennsylvania

High Schools (or Intermediate Schools, Junior High Schools, etc.)

2. With the advent of institutional membership, it is not necessary for each teacher

to be an individual member of PSMLA, provided the school has an institutional

membership.

3. Send the names any time during the year.

4. We have upgraded the certificates to a better grade of paper. They are now

heavier. There may be a fancy seal on the certificates if I can work it out.

5. Due to the increased cost of postage and the heavier paper, the fee has increased

to $1.50 for 1-5 certificates. If ordering more than 5, the fee remains at $1.25. (It

is more cost effective to send multiple certificates.)

6. Please note on the form if you want the certificate to include the level of

language studied or just the language. For example:

Certificate of Achievement in the Study of French

OR

Certificate of Achievement in the Study of French IV

If you have any other suggestions to improve the program, please let me know.
