Educator of the Year:

Maximum awards: one K-12 and one higher education

Criteria
-
Significant contribution to the profession

Minimum ten years teaching, supervisory and/or administrative experience
-
Membership for three consecutive years in PSMLA
-
Active involvement in at least one other foreign language association is highly recommended.

Recipients receive a plaque at the Fall Conference
-
Recipients considered as possible candidate for NECTFL Teacher of the Year
-
Coordinate with NECTFL Representative to complete and submit the paperwork to NECTFL for Educator of the Year by the early January deadline.

Current Executive Council members are not eligible
Merit Award:

Criteria
-
Given to individuals or institutions who have rendered exceptional service in the promotion of foreign languages
-
Must be individuals or institutions outside the foreign language profession
-
One to three awards presented at the Fall Conference
-
Recipients receive a plaque at the Fall Conference
-
Current Executive Council members are not eligible.
The Frank Mulhern Leadership Award:
-
Provided outstanding leadership in the foreign language profession in the state, region, and/or nation
-
Contributed significantly to the work of PSMLA.
-
Been a member of PSMLA for a minimum of 10 years
-
Is still active in the work for which the award is being given.

The award is not meant to replace the Educator of the Year award, nor is it a career achievement award – but the focus is leadership, above and beyond all other PSMLA awards.

The award does not have to be given annually.
