June K. Phillips, (Ph.D. The Ohio State University), is Professor and Dean Emerita of Arts and Humanities at Weber State University (UT). She has taught French at the junior high through college levels as well as methods of foreign language teaching. She served as President of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages in 2001, chaired the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages in 1984, and was a trustee for the Center for Applied Linguistics. She is a recipient of the Palmes Académiques from the French government and the Nelson Brooks Award of the Northeast Conference. She was project director for the design of the Foreign Language Standards and is currently directing a federal project for ACTFL to review them. She co-chaired the development Standards for FL Teacher Education Programs which are approved by NCATE. She has consulted with a number of curriculum and testing projects including the Spanish NAEP and the Annenberg/WGBH video library. She has published extensively on pedagogical topics and edited volumes for ACTFL and Northeast.
